Edmund Cook Little served in Company C, 9th Iowa Infantry, during the Civil War. He was born in Illinois. In 1853, his family moved to Buchanan County, Iowa. They later moved to Independence, Iowa. In August, 1861, at age 16, Little joined Company C, 9th Iowa Infantry. In 1863, shortly before his 18th birthday, he achieved the rank of Captain. He was wounded at Vicksburg on May 22, 1863. He did not recover and was discharged in February, 1864. He returned to Independence, where he became Postmas...
